We're not just about award-winning e-learning and LMS solutions - and in addition to the Kineo Jazz nights that we run from time to time, we also like to support our local communities, and give something back to the people around us.
As part of this commitment, Kineo staff each spend a day supporting a local community project. You can find details about all of our community project endeavours below.
Projects we've worked on so far...
From diversity courses to bio-diversity: building ponds at Special Branch Nursery
For our second Kineo in the Community day a group of intrepid volunteers ventured up to Special Branch at Stanmer Park on an unseasonably warm October’s day.
Special Branch is a conservation group raising native trees, grown organically from seeds and cuttings from the local area. These trees then go to local conservation and environmental projects. They’re a lovely, knowledgeable bunch who depend entirely on volunteer support.
Under the expert guidance of Chris Perry, the Kineo team managed to construct a new pond; weed an existing pond; turn a large compost heap; safely collect and process some beautiful pink but poisonous Spindle seeds.
Chris from Special Branch thanked us "for sending such a delightful team to Special Branch", and commented that: "Everyone worked really well and we successfully completed much more work than I anticipated. Fantastic!"
We’re also pleased to report that the team survived a brush with a weasel, the outdoor compost toilets and all volunteers managed to avoid falling in the newly constructed pond. We had such a great day and can’t wait to get involved in the next project.
Being green and planting seeds - Moulsecoomb Forest Garden and Wildlife Project
On a bright day at the start of September (2012) Kineo staff spent a day working with ‘Seedy Business’ based at Moulsecoomb Forest Garden and Wildlife Project.
The project has become an important community resource offering horticultural, educational and social opportunities to residents and schools in these surrounding built up urban areas. It has won awards for Best Community Allotment in the UK and Best Green Project in Sussex.
On a beautiful late summer day the Kineo team helped with a wide variety of tasks including laying foundations for new compost bins; watering and planting; picking veg and preparing lunch for everyone over a fire.
Warren and the team at Seedy Business have created something amazing and it was a pleasure to help out for a day. We are looking forward to helping out again in the future.
