Although best known for our learning technology solutions, here at City & Guilds Kineo we also like to do our bit for charity and the communities in which we work. In fact, it’s one of our core values.
Over the years we’ve supported a number of charities by way of pro bono elearning projects, but more recently we’ve focussed on giving back to local causes with staff giving up a day of their time to help out.
Not ones to rest on our laurels, we’re going one step further in 2014. Well 40-miles further to be precise; as we take on the 2014 Midnight Trek PLOD – a 40-mile night-time walk that starts in Brighton and ends in Eastbourne.
Why we’re doing it
As well as being some of the most experienced learning technologists in the business, many of our staff (in the UK and globally) are also proud parents. So this year we’re raising money for Action Medical Research – a fantastic charity, dedicated to improving the health of babies and children.
Right now the best medical minds in children’s hospitals and universities across the UK are waiting for the green light to start research that could lead to life-changing treatments for babies and children. They just need the funding.
How you can help
We’ve already been doing lots of fundraising internally; staring with a Christmas Fair in December 2013, and running an in-house ‘tuck shop’ at our Brighton office since April that’s gone down very well.
However, we do have a fundraising target (of £4,500) to hit, and here's where we’d like to ask for your help...
We’ve got a number of fundraising activities taking place over the next few weeks, which you can get involved with whether you’re near or far:
- Grab yourself a bargain – If you’re in the Brighton area, visit our Car Boot sale at Brighton Racecourse on 8th June
- Get a tasty treat direct to your desk – Get a delicious Cream Tea delivered direct to your office for yourself and 9 others, on 19th June (find out more)
- Sponsor our PLOD – The big event takes place on 25th July – we’re not asking you to join us, just donate what you can to help spur on our intrepid ‘Trailblazing’ team
Visit our fundraising page to find out more about Medical Action Aid, our ‘Trailblazers’ and how you can donate to the Action Medical Research cause.
