On September 9, the Kineo Pacific team will on-site as co-hosts at the annual LearnX Main Event at the Rydges World Centre in Sydney. From storytelling and games, to the next ten years in learning - take a peak at what the team will be talking about at the event!
Back to the Future: What a Decade of Learning Tech Could Tell Us About the Next 10 Years
To jumpstart the day, Matt Johnson, Global Managing Director from City & Guilds Kineo will be taking the main stage at 9:10am. With 10 years in learning technology under our belts, there’s one thing that we’ve learnt: shift happens (and fast). Flash has come (and somewhat) gone, while Internet Explorer is no longer the dominating browser. Mobile and multi-device learning was once a pipe dream, now it’s mainstream. Social learning? There was no Yammer or Twitter when our journey started, and MOOCs and Open Badges have only just begun to multiply. Don’t even get us started on the LMS…Because let’s face it, there’s been a lot of changes to the industry – and beyond, in the past decade. So with lessons learnt, new technology constantly changing the game, and an evolving (and growing) market, where do we go from here and what can we expect from the next 10 years? Synchronize your iWatches; it’s time to go back to the future.
Do You Have the Backbone for Systems Led Blends?
Technology is fundamentally changing the way we do things. We’re seeing a global shift from manual or disconnected systems to single, online enterprise systems. The impact is modernising business processes and redefining job roles, while improving efficiencies, performance and customer service. The training challenge is immense. With a critical role in change management, larger systems-based training is driving a new approach to blended learning, one that focuses on the ‘spine’ of the solution. Just as our spines need to allow us to move freely while still supporting us, a well-designed blend is the same. But finding the spine has many challenges that can throw any of the vertebrae out of alignment. Join Elearning Solutions Manager, Tina Griffin at 11:45am for this frontliner session to find out if you’ve got the backbone to get your systems training moving freely.
Finding Your Path: Stories, Games and Learning
The one and only Rachel Teasdale, Solutions Consultant and storytelling guru will be hosting a 15 minute Learning Byte at the Kineo stand at 1:45pm. Find out how to encourage learners to choose their own adventure through great stories and game mechanics. The best games use engaging narrative, complex characters and other game elements to encourage their player to explore new worlds, navigate obstacles and learn from their experiences. Our top five tips aim to help you gamify your learning to create an engaging learner experience that’s appropriate for your workplace. This isn’t gamification; it’s applying game elements and mechanics to improve the learner experience.
See Our Work in Action at the LearnX Main Event
The day will be ripe with case study presentations to gain expertise and insights on, such as the Australian Sports Anti-Doping Authority, who will be presenting on the Platinum award-winning, Level 1 Anti-Doping course using the multi-device Adapt Framework. Sit in on this presentation at 11:00am to discover how this award winning project defined a new era of education engagement for Australian athletes and appealed to the competitive nature inherent in most sporting communities.
You can also stop by the stand and talk to the team to get your own demo of the course, along with some more elearning courses and our learning management system implementations using Totara, that took home a LearnX Award this year.
