Publishing & Training Company – Learning Platform

Challenge

The challenge for this company was to provide an engaging learning platform which they could use to support the delivery of online and blended learning programmes to busy managers.

The platform had to support multiple languages and allow learning to be structured and delivered as programmes to learners. These programmes could contain multiple courses, pre-requisites and required content sequencing. The platform also had to provide sophisticated reporting including reports for managers to see the progress of their teams and scheduled reporting so that reports could be emailed each Monday or at specified times to the managers.

The Solution

The company reviewed various learning platforms on the market and decided that Totara LMS was the best fit. In particular Totara provided:

• Multi-language capability
• Full programme management functionality allowing programmes to be developed and allocated to learners including sequencing, pre-requisites and fully customisable email notifications such as reminders (see screen image)
• Ability to provide managers with simple but sophisticated reporting building tools just for their teams
• No per user licence fees as the site will grow to support many tens of thousands of users over time
• Ability to add a wide range of learning resources such as e-learning, video, slides and resources

The Result

The new learning platform has been received very positively by administrators and managers. The site has been delivered in ten languages so far including Arabic. The success of the platform means that there are plans to extend its use across further geographies and subjects.
