You want an e-learning experience that feels completely authentic to your learners – created just for them. You want it on brand, and in your tone of voice. And of course, you want a great design experience that’s completely tailored to your needs to achieve the results you care about.
Our approach to custom e-learning is based on a practical approach to ensure learning is transferred to the workplace. This means:
Focus on what matters:
You can't cover it all. Nor should you. We believe that e-learning should take a critical mistakes focus and hone in on the areas that will make the biggest difference to performance. We think of this as an 80/20 approach, i.e. 20% of the issues if addressed would make 80% of the positive impact.
Make it goal-based:
We take the view that most people are goal-based. They don’t really want to ‘learn’ – they want solutions to problems and answers to questions. The e-learning needs to ensure it is focused on addressing goals that we know your learners face, and be set up to be obviously supportive of key tasks that they do.
Practice, practice, practice:
We all learn by doing. There is no substitute for real experience. But we can simulate this experience through engaging, short and focused goal-based scenarios in the e-learning. These give your team an opportunity to practice, make decisions, and make mistakes in a safe and supported environment, with coaching and support where needed.
Stories are more memorable than information. While some of us may struggle to remember the key points in legislation, we would certainly remember if we violated it, and faced the consequences. We aim to capture the best ‘stories’ from your experienced experts, and use these where relevant within the learning, e.g. when someone makes a mistake in a scenario, or by accessing a set of stories.
Make it look (and sound) great:
Looks matter. Custom e-learning should be a great visual and media experience as well as a learning experience. Our team of graphic and flash designers make sure that e-learning is brand-led, and engages the eye as well as the mind, and use video and audio to bring emotion and impact.
Talk their language, make it real:
Custom means it’s built for you. That means making it look great to reflect your brand, of course. But it means going further: making sure that it has a tone and personality. We believe e-learning needs to speak to learners like a trusted friend who’s helping them along the way - being direct, challenging and above all helpful. And a sense of humour in the right places doesn't hurt either.
We’ve applied these principles on over 2,000 custom e-learning modules. Each one is different (as you'd expect); all of them are designed to be a great experience that gets results. We’re proud of all of them, and we’d love to show you some of them and find out how we can help you.
