Editor's note:

Hi,
If you’ve just come back from holiday, some breaking news: you’re dumber now than you were when you went away.

Don’t take it personally. The volume of information in the world doubles every five years, we’re all in a race to stay on top of it. This month we have a look at what learning professionals can do to help learners (and ourselves) keep up with the pace:

  • What can we learn from how the brain deals with information, and what does it mean for how we design e-learning? Dr Itiel Dror explains in our podcast interview
  • How can the theory of wikinomics help e-learning evolve at the speed of information? Steve Rayson explores in his book review
  • How can ensure our e-learning makes a sustained impact on learners? Our free rapid guide explains

Plenty to help you keep up (and now there’s more for everyone else to catch up on – so you’re back in the race…).

If you’ve ideas for future newsletters, I’d love to hear from you. Get in touch at newsletter@kineo.com

Best,
Stephen

The whole world’s collaborating – and that raises big questions for learning professionals, explains Steve Rayson in his review of "Wikinomics”. This book is a great reflection on recent web 2.0 developments and makes four key points which raise important questions for learning professionals grappling with the new way of working, developing and collaborating in e-learning.

So we know there’s too much information out there, but what do we know about the human brain, and how much information it can handle? And what are we doing about it in our learning designs? Dr Itiel Dror has been gaining a reputation in the UK for his views on how of understanding the brain can make a difference to our approach to e-learning. Find out more in our interview:

6. Award season: Kineo’s growth earns business award nomination

There’s one pace of change we’re particularly tuned into at Kineo: our growth in the last two years. We’ve tripled in size, and added world-class clients such as BP, Google, Cable & Wireless and Marks & Spencer. This week we’re proud to announce we’ve been nominated for the Brighton and Hove Business Awards as “Best new kid on the block” (which makes those of us over 40 feel extremely down with the kids).
