Editor's note:

Hi,

Welcome to our December newsletter. This month we're talking about collaboration in learning: what is it  and how to make it happen.

It's not just us talking about it either. I had a  great conversation with Jane Knight, founder of the  E-learning Centre. She had some interesting things  to say about communities, collaboration, and free  tools. As always, you can listen in.

Collaboration and communities - how do you make sure  you don't throw the party that nobody shows up to?  Our new briefing, "7 Ways to Market e-learning"
will help answer that. It's available for free.

If you'd like to talk about the ideas here, or other  ones, I'd love to hear from you. E-mail me at  newsletter@kineo.com

Season's Greetings to you and yours from all of us at Kineo!

Stephen

2. The December interview: Jane Knight of the e-Learning Centre

In the often confusing world of e-learning, Jane  Knight has been a voice of sanity since she founded the e-Learning Centre in 1994. I caught up with her  for a skypecast (that's skype + podcast, of course)  last week. We talked about informal learning, open  source tools, key trends of 2005 and where it's all  headed next year.

Hear what Jane had to say here.

3. December's big ideas

Each month we focus on big ideas that have the potential to transform your learning. Last month you voted Moodle as the most useful idea. So, give your loved ones a free LMS this Christmas.

This month we're looking at collaboration and communities:

Wikis

If Wikipedia was a town, you'd want to live there. Read more.

Communities of practice

How to get your learners to develop content. Read more.

Learning champions

You've got to get them on your side. Read more.

Like those? Get the other big ideas from Kineo Knowledge.

4. Kineo survey: Audio learning LAST ORDERS!!

We're keen on audio learning. But we want to know your views and experiences. We're running a survey on audio learning: where it works, doesn't work, and how you've made it work.

If you would like to participate, and get a free copy of the finished report click here.

Survey closes on December 24th! Survey first, Santa second.

5. News: Futuremedia to acquire EBC

Only 6 shopping days to Christmas, but Futuremedia have done theirs early. They announced last week that they’re acquiring EBC, the Milton Keynes based e-learning company for £4.45 million.

Steve Rayson shares his views on what this means for the market . Read More.
