Hi,

Simulating reality is often the name of the game in this business. Whether that’s simulating winning the European football final on your Wii (and if you live in England, that’s as good as it’s going to get this summer…), or more likely, simulating real business experience, it’s key to have the tools and the design skils to do it right. This month we share some key tools and insights to help you get the most from your simulations.

We share a free guide on how to make soft skill simulations part of your e-learning, explain how we’ve gone just that in collaboration with Marks & Spencer, and share some key tools and tips for making audio part of that authentic simulation for your learners.

We’re working on a great weather for July and August simulator in our masses of spare time. It’s in beta testing, so no promises.

Enjoy this month’s update and get in touch if you’ve got ideas for future newsletters.

Best,
Stephen

1. Free rapid guide: how to get soft skills simulations into your e-learning

Someone once said the whole point of e-learning is to help people make mistakes and learn why, so they’re not making it on the job. Extreme view, maybe, but the sentiment is right. Designing engaging and effective simulations is a key skill for e-learning. The potential in rapid e-learning is greater than you might think. In this month’s free guide we share some key tips for creating simulations for rapid e-learning.

Kineo’s full set of over 30 Rapid Guides are now available as a special offer at the Rapid E-learning store:

2. Case study: simulations at Marks & Spencer

One organization that’s committed to creating great simulations for its Line Managers is Marks & Spencer. In this month’s case study, we share insights from our collaboration with M&S which has resulted in a range of rapid, engaging e-learning.

3. Tool review: your audio recording kit-bag

As we explain in the free guide this month, one of the best ways to bring a simulation to life is to include some audio analysis and commentary from experts. You don’t need to go to Glastonbury to find the kit you need to record great audio. This month we share our insights on three simple, powerful and free tools that give you all you need to record high-quality audio rapidly.

4. Market update: open source is the future – face it

The growth of open source continues to be the dominate theme of this decade. Still not convinced that this will change everything? Read this month’s market update and see where it’s all going (clue: into your organization, if you’re smart).
