>> 1. Kineo insight: When learning becomes performance support

With increasing discussion of informal and workflow learning, it’s time to look again at the practice of performance support and its role in supporting learners in the workplace. In this month’s briefing paper, Mark Harrison and Steve Rayson explore how performance support is different from traditional models, and share some tips on how to ensure your performance support is set up to actually improve people’s performance. Read it here:

Kineo has deployed Moodle Open Source LMS for several clients to support effective performance. Learn more about how we could help you:

-------------------------------------------------
>> 2. Audio interview: E-learning design and creativity

You know how it goes. We all want our e-learning designs and designers to be ‘creative’. We bemoan a lack of creativity in e-learning. But what do we mean by creativity in e-learning? Patrick Dunn, friend of Kineo and experienced e-learning designer, has conducted some great research into this topic and shares his thoughts with us:

Want your own podcast? Kineo’s Podcasting Services can help you communicate with learners in new ways, as we’ve done for Cable & Wireless and others. Find out more:

-------------------------------------------------
>> 3. Rapid authoring tool road test: Giunti Labs’ Learn eXact

Last month we looked at Mohive, a collaborative authoring tool with a strong workflow component. This month we shift our attention to another from the server-based category: Learn eXact from Giunti Labs. Matt Fox got stuck into Giunti’s extensive suite of authoring and content tools. Read what he made of them here:

Want help in choosing the right authoring tool for you, and building your team’s capability? Kineo Rapid E-learning Consultancy team can help. Contact us at rapid@kineo.com for more.

-------------------------------------------------
>> 4. E-learning market update: From the bloglines

Ace e-learning market sleuth Steve Rayson never reveals his sources. Except when they’ve already revealed themselves, that is. This month he decided to look at the e-learning market from a different perspective, firing up the blog scanner to see what, and who, is driving the debate (and then drive it a little further, of course). Read this month’s update here.

This includes a worthy mention of the E-Skills for Business report, “Towards Maturity”, which is a great piece of research on how the e-learning market is evolving. Hats off to Laura Overton and co for producing.

>> 5. Rapid E-learning Store: Absence and Recruitment Flatpacks now available

We’re pleased to add two new E-learning Flatpacks to the Rapid E-learning Store this week:

>> 7. …and goes to Boston

With so many new faces in the office, we had to make some room for a week. Kineo’s always had one eye on the US and particularly on how rapid e-learning has become a fully established approach there. So it’s time to go further. Kineo partners Matt Fox and Steve Rayson drew the long straws and are off to Boston to the ELearning Guild conference from 11 to 14 April. If you are in the US and would like to catch up with Steve or Matt at the conference they would love to meet you.

Email us at info@kineo.com to get in touch, and keep reading future newsletters for updates from the event.
