Hi,

We're nearly a third of the way though 2006. What learning trends have been buzzing in your ear this quarter?

If you're moving in the same circles we are, you're hearing a lot about learning communities and informal learning. This month we try to make sense of what's being said and add some thoughts of our own.

New ideas perhaps, but underpinned by a familiar theme - how can they contribute to effective learning. In the latest Kineo briefing, the second of a four-part series, we share the seven steps to learning effectiveness.

Speaking of, we were challenged to a debate on where the effectiveness of face-to-face and print fit into the new world of learning. We like a challenge - and you can hear how we got on.

Other things causing a buzz for you? I'd love to hear about them. E-mail me at newsletter@kineo.com

Finally, are you going to HRD at Olympia this year from the 4 - 6th April? Join us for Champagne to celebrate the official launch of Kineo. We'll be at the Hilton Olympia on the 5th from 5.15 - 6.30pm

Best wishes

Stephen

1. Briefing: Learning Strategy Master Plan Part 2: Effectiveness

Kineo's Mark Harrison was recently part of a consultation process with members of the ASTD global network. They explored what successful learning organisations have in common. Four traits emerged. Last month we published our insight briefing on alignment. In this month's briefing, Mark focuses on the seven steps to make your learning effective.

Look out for the next two in the series over the coming months.

Check out our learning strategy thoughts here.

4. Audio Debate - E-learning vs. Books and Face-to-face

We were challenged to explain how print and face-to-face fit into the new learning landscape. Still the big hitters, or fading in importance? We had an interesting debate.

5. Age 2006: Are You Ready? Kineo Launches E-learning

Following the publishing of the Employment Equality (Age) Regulations 2006 by Trade and Industry Secretary Alan Johnson on 10 March 2006, Kineo is pleased to announce the launch of its Age 2006 site and Age Awareness e-learning programme.

6. Product Review: Playaway

This gadget caught our eye (or should that be ear). Simple but effective. We think it's got high learning potential.

7. E-learning Market News: Huveaux Plans for Epic

Ricky Gervais has done nicely by adding monkey news to his podcasts. We'll have to make do with market news.

As you no doubt know by know, Publishing conglomerate Huveaux plc acquired Epic last August. This week they announced what they're planning to do with it. Looks like a product play combined with continued focus on the ever tricky bespoke market. It'll be interesting to watch how Epic repositions.

8. Kineo Launch Party at HRD: You're Invited

We're celebrating our official launch at the HRD Conference Olympia on April 5th this year. Join us for Champagne at the Hilton Olympia from 5.15 - 6.30pm and meet the Kineo team.
