Editor's note: Hi, What will e-learning be like in 2012? If you knew the answer, what would you be doing about it today? Keeping it to yourself? Or telling anyone who’d believe you? By now you know which direction we lean in at Kineo…. We’re looking to the future this month. We’ve dispatched Mark Harrison to peer over the horizon and report back on where he thinks e-learning will be in 2012. He shares his predictions in this month’s free insight briefing, which he’s produced using Macromedia Breeze Presenter, futurist that he is. We also share the findings of a joint research project we’ve conducted with Intel on the future of e-learning in universities, and conduct an audio round-up of some of the predictions for learning we’ve been hearing from our friends in the industry. We interview Kevin Kruse, the ‘E-learning Guru’, and add his predictions to the pot. Coming closer to the immediate future: ACAS has published its guidelines on the new Employment Equality (Age) Regulations. If you’re an employer, this has implications for you. We share our views and offer some help – particularly timely in Age Positive Week. If you have ideas for future articles or newsletters, I'd love to hear from you. E-mail me at newsletter@kineo.com . Best, Stephen 1. Insight Briefing: E-Learning in 2012 Kineo’s Mark Harrison recently presented his vision of e-learning in 2012 to a rapt audience at an e-learning network event. Guess what? The future is already here. Mark points out that back in 2000, nearly all of the technologies and breakthroughs that are core to e-learning today were already available. The trick is, can you find them? Will you make it into the ‘informal learning wonderland’ or be stuck in a hall of mirrors? This month we present the Insight Briefing as a downloadable Breeze file – a little piece of e-learning to cut out and keep. 2. Big ideas: The Future of Learning Staying with this theme, all our big ideas this month focus on the future of learning. Hear from a range of industry experts on where they think it’s all headed, check out Matt Fox’s round-up of the tools that are shaping the future, and learn where e-learning in universities could be heading. Read about the ideas here.
3. Audio Interviews: Kevin Kruse, the E-learning Guru Want to know where e-learning is headed? It pays to talk to a guru…. Kevin Kruse, better known as the ‘E-learning Guru’, has been a strong voice in e-learning for years. He took some time to chat with us about how e-learning hype is bad for you, what’s happening in the US, and why, in terms of one trend at least, the future has already happened.
Hear what he had to say here. 4. Age Awareness: ACAS Guidelines From 1 October 2006 the Employment Equality (Age) Regulations will make it unlawful to discriminate against workers, employees, job seekers and trainees because of their age. ACAS have recently issued guidance on the new Regulations, clearly stating the risks and opportunities for employers based on the Regulations. If you’re an employer, you need to take action. Kineo can help. We have produced a set of resources including a 30 minute e-learning module to help organisations prepare for the new Age Regulations.
If you would like to view a demonstration of these materials and the e-learning module please contact age@kineo.com, or visit http://www.age2006.org
Kineo is pleased to support Age Positive Week, May 8-12th 2006. Find out more here. 5. E-learning Market Update
Like to speculate about the future of the e-learning market in the UK? So does Steve Rayson. Check out this month’s market update for his latest insights. Cryptic clue: the future is looking red… Read the market update here. 6. Kineo and Intel Research Published
Kineo and Intel recently collaborated to look to the future on a research project. Our modest objective: identify how 21st century universities will use e-learning to achieve their goals. We reached some interesting conclusions… . |
