So last month we signed off with 'see you next month for more of the different - never the same...'. Not to overpromise but I think we kind of delivered on that this month.... Seven years into our story, we've done something that we think will be a game changer for learning technology in the workplace. We're delighted to share the news that Kineo has now become part of the City & Guilds Group. Change is good - we think you'll find this change is very good for you in 2013.
Plenty more on that below - and of course we can't wait to meet you and tell you all about the new things we can do for you. Come and see us at Learning Technologies in London and ASTD Tech Knowledge in San Jose to find out more.
It's been an amazing year at Kineo, ending in this exciting next step on our journey. We want to thank all of you - our loyal clients, partners, and our amazing team for everything you've done this year, and the loyalty and partnership from 2005 to present - and beyond.
We wish you a peaceful break and a 2013 filled with development and success. We still feel like we're just warming up. Well, maybe breaking into a stride now...
See you on the other side

1. Next big thing? Kineo becomes part of the City & Guilds Group
It's always been our aim to be the leading global workplace learning company. This month we made a further step towards that aim. We were delighted to announce that we have become part of the City & Guilds Group.
We're proud of our reputation for being flexible, providing great service, and transforming learning through technology. We'll keep doing what we do and provide all of the services we currently do, but now we can do much more for our clients and partners as part of a larger group.
City & Guilds is the number one vocational and work-based skills organisation. It works in over 80 countries world-wide, enabling nearly two million people a year to achieve a 'City & Guilds' certification. The C&G Group includes the Institute for Leadership Management. Founded over 130 years ago, the Group has a turnover in excess of £115m. This gives us the security and stability that comes with the backing of a larger organisation, and investment to support our growth ambitions.
City & Guilds is a charitable organisation and all profits are invested back into supporting vocational education and helping people into work. But like all successful charities, City & Guilds has a clear commercial focus. At Kineo we strongly support these charitable values and welcome the chance to become part of an organisation with a strong heritage and purpose: to enable people and organisations to develop their skills for personal and economic growth.
We have worked with City & Guilds for a while now and we have been impressed with their passion for learning, their values and their commitment to being an employer of choice.
We will work closely with the current City & Guilds for Business operation, which works with leading employers including Harrods, Starbucks, Tesco and McDonald's. The vision is for us to become the world's leading workplace learning company. This brings great opportunities to provide a much wider range of services to our clients, including:
- Accreditation and assessment of your learning, including City & Guilds and ILM qualifications
- E-enabled apprenticeships and qualifications
- Blended learning development and delivery
There's lots more to come on this - please get in touch or come and see us at Learning Technologies to find out more about how we're working together to create the leading global workplace learning company.
2. Learning Technologies 2013: Preview and competition to win 2 conference passes
It’s that time again. It’s the must attend show in the e-learning calendar. We can’t wait to get back to London Olympia this year to share our new services and see everyone. You’ll see us at stand 64 as usual – only a bit bigger this time...
We’re running two seminars this year:

Weds 30th Jan @ 11am - Seminar Theatre 3, Exhibition Floor
Multi-Device e-Learning: One responsive version to rule them all
We’re also giving away two conference passes – all you need to do is share your new year’s resolution for learning with us. Well, us and 6,000 other people in the Elearning Professionals Group.
Find out more about the show, and arrange to come and see us on the stand here.
3. Top tip: Effective learning scenarios in one minute
You know that we’re all about goal-based scenarios at Kineo. Let people do things, make mistakes, get support. So as in life, so it should be in e-learning.
Find out in this snappy new one minute animation how to do it here.

4. Market update: 2012 in review
2012 has been quite the year in learning technologies. The industry grew by size, acquisitions aplenty took place – and we added just a bit of December glamour ourselves.
5. ASTD Tech Knowledge, San Jose. You know the way.
If London in January doesn’t suit you – there’s always San Jose. ASTD Tech Knowledge 2013 rolls into town on Jan 30th and Feb 1st.
We’ll be there in full force – get a preview here.
6. Event review: eLearning Network 25th birthday
What better opportunity to meet with industry friends one last time before Christmas than at the eLearning Network’s 25th birthday celebration? E-learning buffs from far and wide gathered at the Museum of London for a trip back in time through the last 25 years of technology, e-learning and innovation, and a sneaky peek at the future and the most innovative learning technologies being developed at the moment.
Read our round up here.
7. Award update: Kineo and RNLI celebrate charity learning award success
We’re very proud of the charity clients that we work with at Kineo. So we’re delighted to announce that Kineo clients the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) have won the Charity Learning Award 2012 for Best Overall Online Programme for their “Learning Zone”, which brings resources directly to staff, crew and volunteers no matter where they are based. The solution uses the Totara LMS platform and a blended approach to learning.
