5. Market update: Focus on Financial services, more acquisitions

The financial service sector has challenges: regulatory compliance, speed of change, and cost pressures are among the key ones. Because of these, this sector probably stands to gain the most from e-learning and open source LMS solutions. 6. Kineo goes Hollywood – Warner Bros event roundup

The Kineo LA team ran a glamorous e-learning networking and case study sharing event, onsite at the Warner Bros. studio lot in fabulous Burbank, California. Two major Kineo US projects were showcased, and a lot of great discussion was had about how to market elearning effectively, Hollywood style. Totara Funding Award – good news for open source community

It’s great to announce that Totara Learning Solutions was amongst the winners announced at the Badges for Lifelong Learning Competition at the Digital Media and Learning Conference in San Francisco, receiving a significant funding award for a major new piece of functionality.

The “Moodle as Issuer, Mahara as Displayer” project will integrate Mozilla’s new free and open source “Open Badges” software to issue, manage and display digital badges for learning across the Web. The Open Badges functionality will be integrated into Totara LMS, a corporate distribution of Moodle for the enterprise, co-developed by Kineo.

All the new software will be released as open source to Moodle, the world’s leading open-source learning management system. Mahara is the leading open source ePortfolio system widely used in K12 and higher education.

It’s a great recognition of the value of Totara, which Kineo has now implemented for over 35 clients including Vodafone Ireland, Logica and Tesco.
