1. Free Guide: Financial Services – Five directions in learning

We get to work with some of the largest global financial institutions. They’re not shy about sharing their views. That’s a good thing. We recently ran a survey on trends in the sector and captured their views. Turns out some interesting things are happening, despite (or maybe because) of the pressure to deliver more for less.

In our new guide we explore:

  • The challenges facing learning departments in financial services companies
  • Five trends and directions
  • The opportunity for learning and development departments
  • Key lessons for learning and development departments

You can access the guide here.

Like free stuff? There are over 40 other free Kineo guides and reports in the revamped Kineo website.

Help yourself. Or, ask 4,500 other people to help you in the Elearning Professionals Community. Ask a question, throw out an opinion - or even put some sample work and get the world’s e-learning gurus to tell you what they think - be brave, it can only help...

Coming up next month: focus on the Energy sector.

2. Tool review and demo: Articulate Storyline

E-learning designers everywhere take note: there’s a new tool in town. Articulate has just released Storyline, which brings a range of new features. Leaders in e-learning Kineo have been among the first to take the tool for a test drive and today shares a review and demo of the tool.

Kineo has used Articulate Studio products for over 5 years as one of the leading tools for the design and delivery of cost-effective quality learning for its clients. Kineo’s Articulate work includes including award-winning solutions for Cable&Wireless, McDonald’s, PwC and many others. So when Articulate announced Storyline was in development, we were all over it.

The tool has a great range of new features and we’ve been hammering them pretty hard to see what it’s capable of.

4. Top tip: Going social

Social Learning is one of the current darlings of the L&D world, with everyone trying to jump on the social bandwagon. Are you organising the social party in your organisation? Or is it already happening and you just don’t know it?

Cammy Bean (in many ways a social media darling in her own right) shares three tips for making social learning happen.

5. Market update: E-learning trends: yesterday once more?

Maybe it’s the wistful month of May, but we’ve been looking back at some of the trends we’ve been talking about over the past few years, and where we are today - and what might be coming next. Warning: Contains references to both Karen Carpenter and Artificial Intelligence.

Read this month’s update here.

6. Energy sector survey: Share your views, we’ll share a free guide

Last month we asked those of you in the financial services sector to share your views on what’s happening in the sector. Thanks for the many responses - we’re sharing these in a new guide on financial services this month. Not too late to add your views to our survey here though.

This month we’re looking at the Energy Sector. In the run-up to Getenergy 2012 in London in June, we’re preparing a new guide on the key trends and developments in Oil and Gas and Utilities clients - and we’re keen to get your views.

If you’re in the sector, it’d be great if you could take 5 minutes to take part in our survey - we’ll be sure to get a copy of the guide to you. You can complete it here.

7. Show reports: Two from the US

April was ASTD month at Kineo US, with Cammy Bean, our VP of Learning Design, crossing the continent for two back-to-back appearances at ASTD regional events. We’ve got her show updates for you right here.
