CIPD HRD 2013 Event Review

Last month the new look City & Guilds for business team, including Kineo, took part in the CIPD’s annual HRD event in London.

HRD is the event in CIPDs calendar that focuses specifically on the learning and development aspect of HR. It combines a conference and exhibition and also marks the release of their annual learning and talent development research report.

2013 was the second year that City & Guilds have attended the show, and the first since Kineo joined the group.  The show was the perfect platform for the Group to showcase a new complete workplace learning offering, and it was interesting to see the differences in the CIPDs research compared to that of our own and what we are seeing in the learning technologies side of the L&D industry.

AITD 2013 National Conference Report

With over 400 delegates in attendance at the Melbourne Convention Centre, the 2013 AITD National Conference was a great chance for Learning & Development professionals from the Asia-Pacific region to come together and share valuable insights and hear from a terrific line-up of guest speakers.  While the conference quickly came and went, the Kineo Pacific team were ripe with some astute reflections from the two-day event.

Top 5 Trends - Where Technology Will Take
eLearning in 5 Years

As Silver Sponsors at this year’s AITD National Conference April 10-11 in Melbourne, global learning solutions provider, Kineo gave away two tickets to the event, valued at $3600.

Participants were asked to share their opinions on where technology will take eLearning in the next five years on Kineo’s eLearning Professionals Group on LinkedIn. The Group received a number of creative and provoking views on where technology will take eLearning in the next five years. From augmented realities, to taking technology back into the classroom, participants had varying views on where and how technology should shape the state of eLearning.

National Apprenticeship Week 2013: Roundup of

March 11-15th was National Apprenticeship Week in the UK and it provided an opportunity for Kineo and City & Guilds to do some joined up work and communications around the value of apprenticeships.

Providing opportunities for people to enter the workforce and develop skills via apprenticeships is something that’s at the core of what City & Guilds stands for. City & Guilds leads the apprenticeship initiative in the UK and is looking to create a million new apprenticeships in the UK by Summer 2013. Find out more at million-extra.co.uk/.

Learning Solutions 2013 - Wrap-up

It actually rained in Orlando this year during Learning Solutions 2013.  Shocking, right? We were certainly shocked.  But rain can’t stop over 1,300 people from learning.

New to Learning Technology?  

Welcome to the circus...

We know that if you’re new to Learning Technologies, it can all seem a bit mystifying – there’s a lot of jargon and high-falutin’ concepts talked out there (Yes, some of it by the likes of us at Kineo, fair enough).

Learning Technologies 2013 - Event Review

Learning Technologies 2013 promised to be the biggest and best attended exhibition and conference in the corporate learning sector – and it certainly lived up to expectations!

It was our seventh year at the show and we were proud to be a main sponsor, to be hosting two packed-out seminars and for one of our designers, Kim George, to be a member of the Learning Technologies ‘Twitter Army’. Here’s our lowdown on what we saw and heard over the two days – thank you to everyone who came by our stand, attended our seminars and supported @kineo on the #LT13UK backchannel!

ASTD TechKnowledge 2013 Wrap-Up

San Jose is a great little town for a conference and we’re always game for a visit.  This year, San Jose did not let us down—nor did ASTD TechKnowledge 2013. 

We felt a palpable change in the air—more people are embracing new technologies and not gasping in fear.  Mobile has gone mainstream, HTML5 conversations don’t strike fear into the hearts of men and women, and everywhere people seem focused on providing better learning experiences through blends and the right use of the right technologies for the right purpose.

Israeli L&D Conference 20th Anniversary Review

The annual Israeli Learning and Development conference, which took place on February 5-6th in Tel Aviv, attracted more than 600 L&D professionals from leading organizations in the Israeli market. Kineo Israel’s Director of Learning Solutions, Amir Elion, was this year’s conference chairman.

Learning Technologies, co-located with Learning and Skills, is now the biggest exhibition and conference in the entire corporate learning sector. It’s also the best attended and fastest growing.

With more than 220 exhibitors, over 120 free seminars and an audience of 5,000 learning and development professionals, it is the must attend event for anyone involved in organisational learning.

ASTD TechKnowledge 2013 – Coming Soon!

This January, the Kineo US team heads to San Jose, CA – where the skies are sunny and the learning’s good – for another edition of ASTD’s annual TechKnowledge conference.  This year, the theme is Learning Technology: Applied.  Sounds like a conference to roll up your sleeves and get to work at!

The eLN’s 25^th Birthday Bash: Event review

What better opportunity to meet with industry friends one last time before Christmas than at the eLearning Network’s 25^th birthday celebration! E-learning buffs from far and wide gathered at the Museum of London for a trip back in time through the last 25 years of technology, e-learning and innovation, and a sneaky peek at the future and the most innovative learning technologies being developed at the moment.

We might not be able to conjure up the cakes and champagne we enjoyed that afternoon, but here’s our recap of what was a slightly different-from-usual event from the eLN. We came, we shared. And we drummed. Really!

Learning Insights Live 2012: Event Review

When we launched our new report on E-learning Trends with E-learning Age, we were keen to take it out on the road and bring it to life. So just a week after launch, we found ourselves – and about 100 of you - gorging on cakes at our hosts City & Guilds’ offices in London.

More than three hundred and fifty learning leaders travelled to Chicago for Training Magazine’s Learning 3.0 Conference on October 24 and 25.  The conference focused on key trends and technologies that are taking learning to the next level. 

Learning Insights 2012: 10 Key Learning
Technology Trends

Research by Kineo and e.learning Age has identified 10 key learning technology trends. These trends will be outlined in detail this week in a major new report to be launched at the E-learning Awards in London. The report is based on research with businesses about their use of learning technology. Kineo undertook interviews and meetings with over 30 leading L&D figures across a wide variety of sectors. The interviews included Aviva, BT, BP, Barclays, BUPA, BBC, Vodafone, McDonald's UK, British Army and many others.

Conference Review: ELIG in Dublin

Every year the great and some of the relatively good members of the e-learning community convene in a European city to chow down on the big issues in the E-learning industry, in the guise of the ELIG (European Learning Industry Group) conference. This year it was Dublin’s turn. And an excellent choice too – surely the new silicon valley of Europe with the European capitals of Google, Facebook and LinkedIn within a tax-minimising Guinness spill of each other.  In fact, the visit included some silicon up close but more on that story later.

Our webinar on Responsive E-Learning attracted over 300 attendees on September 20th, 2012.

The webinar outlined how responsive e-learning design can deliver one version of content to multiple devices.

LearnX 2012 Show Report

With most of our heads still spinning at the end of August, the Kineo Pacific team took some much needed time out to reflect on the wonderful whirlwind event that was the LearnX 2012 Conference.

Attracting over 400 delegates at the Melbourne Convention Centre, the LearnX conference was a great chance for industry leaders and colleagues to come together and share invaluable insight about successful strategies, learning technologies and best practices that come from on-the-job experience.

Kineo Jazz Networking Event Report

On a balmy evening in August, in picturesque Flinders Lane, learning and development enthusiasts joined together at ‘Downstairs at Bluestones’ to partake in all things e-learning and jazz, hosted by the wonderful Kineo Pacific team.

Kineo Totara and Moodle User Group - First Event

On an unusually sunny day in July (for London at least), the first Kineo Totara/Moodle User Group took place at BMA House in London.

Over 50 Kineo LMS clients came together to listen to the planned new Totara developments, hear case study stories and share experiences.
